Togouchi Single Cask Mizunara 51.1% 700ml

A refined single cask release from the historic Sakurao Distillery, the Togouchi Single Cask Mizunara showcases the harmony between craftsmanship and Japan’s natural elements. Distilled twice — first in a traditional pot still, then in a hybrid still — and matured for 5 years in rare Mizunara oak casks, this 100% malt whisky reveals the distinctive influence of Japanese oak: elegant spice, soft incense, and layered sweetness.

On the nose, it opens with rich notes of smoked cheese, roasted nuts, and a hint of earthy beet. The palate unfolds with caramel, ripe banana, and roasted chestnut, offering both depth and balance. The finish lingers with sweet caramel, nutty undertones, and a delicate wisp of peat.

Aged in the distillery’s remarkable underground cellar — a 361-meter tunnel kept at a steady 14°C and 80% humidity — the whisky develops exceptional smoothness and aromatic complexity.
